Weeds, Weeds & More Weeds

Had to start with something pretty! Two of the iris graced us with their presence!! They look lovely in the garden outside our kitchen window!

Guess what? A FULL day with no rain! Mega exciting. On with the gardening clothes again and out into the duck-yard (the yard that has never had ducks) to get stuck into the weeding

Today!

The weeds in here are so small and fiddly! It really takes forever to dig them out – and mostly we are surrounded by squabbling chooks, looking for worms.

Rest time and dust bath time

I want to put some runner beans along this fence. And maybe some passionfruit

This was the point I called it quits – Jeff continued on for a while, but I had to clean up and duck into the supermarket. I very much want this sorted out so we can plant our corn ASAP

Todays treasures??

Random dolls leg too!!!

With luck we will be able to get back to it tomorrow – I am about to check the forecast!

I will leave you with a few more iris photos and bid you goodnight!

Cheers!

A happy traveller through life! Right now living in NW Tasmania with a gorgeous Nurse-Husband, a fool of a Siamese Cat and several chickens. We love our fairly simple lifestyle of growing a lot of what we eat and enjoying the stunning surrounds of our little patch.

    1. Thank-you – Looking forward to more of the iris showing their colours! Rain again today- the set-in miserable type. Looking for alternate amusement today! πŸ™‚

  1. Here in the USA, I am weeding also and mulching, getting my beds ready to sleep the winter. Love your iris – you take such good pictures of everything. I have reblooming iris in my flower garden. They bloom profusely in the spring and then again lightly in the fall. Right now I have some purple iris, had white for a while. They need dividing so have been a little stingy with their blooms this year. We are in a dry spell here in North Carolina – at least in my part. The part of NC close to the coast and eastern area are still dealing with the floods from Hurricane Matthew. Looking out my window today I see the leaves falling and it is beginning to cool. Winter will be here soon.

    1. Hi Beverly! You sound busy too! I haven’t really done that for winter, but learned via a couple of plots at Ruby’s that the weeds cut way down in areas that I covered with seaweed! Will be doing that at the end of the season for sure!!!
How lovely to have a second go at your iris!! I divided mine a couple of seasons ago and shared the rhizomes out to family/friends. I am not sure when they will need doing again. It was a bit job!
      Enjoy the autumn colours!

  2. I had to laugh that you also call finds you dig up “treasures.” I dig up all sorts of things and for some reason drag them to the house. My husband says my treasures look an awful lot like trash! Haha West Virginia USA

    1. Oh I am so glad its not just me!! I find all the little things we dig up cool (although I admit I am still holding out hope for a proper box of treasure!)
