Lots of Tomatoes – All Green

(yes, I know – this is not green)

Hello! I would like to let those of you who were worrying know, that I completely survived my shopping trip. Even more amazing I came home with FOUR items of clothing and only one book.
I have impressed my husband.
I bought a couple of bra’s –  which was agony in itself… I cannot wear underwire and I don’t need anything padded. (Happy with my natural padding) BUT – seems everything was wired and padded!
Finally found a place that sold some normal bra’s. I hadn’t bought them for about 10 years. Kid you not. I have been wearing crop tops but they get a bit saggy and the old bra’s I have been wearing to death are, to be honest, a bit manky.
Well… foundation garments sorted, I moved on to the hiking pants and rain jacket issue.
Sigh. Womens sections of shops are useless to me. In the end I bought some hiking pants from the mens section of Rivers, along with a water/wind proof lightweight jacket. Doesn’t anyone think women hike or work in outdoor situations?
I bought a book because it was easy, fun and stress less 🙂

Home again I enjoyed an enormous slice of tomato on a piece of toast for lunch then amused myself in the garden for a while!

Two nice days in a row – gives me hope that some of these very very very late tomatoes have a slight chance of ripening

I have a mad amount of tomato plants out there!

The corn is also agonisingly slow. The cobs are showing signs of fattening up at last.

I did peek into one but it is not ready yet. I have to stop going down every day to see… Maybe if I ignore them for a week…??

Happily the seaweed mulch is really doing its job where I put it down… the weeds have really been cut back

Weeds flourishing on the right side where I didn’t get to weed and mulch

I had almost given up on the runner beans – but they are making a significant appearance now

Half the bean arch is falling over!

I finally got around to putting in a few small rows of carrots. First time I have tried using my own seed

Then I took a pretty bad and boring photo of the patch… haha

My potato patch is looking fairly scraggly and done in. I think its about time to dig the lot up and use the space to get more winter vegies on the go.

I’ll wait until Jeff has his next lot of days off so we can do this together. He loves digging potatoes as much as I do.
(But I did sort of accidentally dig another plant – I’ll view that as a reconnaissance job)

They weren’t huge, but decent sized and a good amount under a single plant

This one was under a self sown potato that I found when planting the carrot seeds

Rogue potatoes under the macrocarpas doing well with no assistance from me!
Apple cucumber (got two more of those)
More self seeded parsley appearing and doing well!

And out of all the pumpkin plants I have one measly little pumpkin growing!!

Hope your day was lovely!

Cheers

New lot of lettuce coming along again!!

  1. Your garden looks great! I could have liked the screen when I saw the fresh tomato slice on the bread, yum. I too am having a bit of a problem from my lack of clothes. My family and I are going on a cruise and my wardrobe, or lack there of, is no where close to “cruise casual”.
I found one sundress at a thrift shop but since the cruise is 4 days I guess I need to keep shopping. Oh, and my saggy bra is doing that one dress no favors! So bras are on my list, too. I just don’t dress up much. Should of thought of that before I booked a cruise. My plan is to try to find a couple more expensive sundresses. Much less money than shirts and shorts. Ugh, I feel your pain!

    1. LOL – I topped that tomato with basil and cheese! Perfect.
In four days! The pressure!! I love op-shops (thrift)
At least I have three months before Texas to sort some sort of wardrobe that I can take so I don’t look like my usual scruffy self! Going to have to dig out all my summer clothes that never usually get worn here. See what fits (eek)
Have a really wonderful time away on your cruise! (Where is it heading? Do you get to go off ship much?)

      1. Going on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas leaving in a few weeks. The ship stops at 2 ports. We will stay most of a day at the Bahamas and another day at Disney’s own island so, yeah, we will have time for a little exploring. I’m excited because I have never cruised before and this was definately on the bucket list. I’m so excited for you to go to Texas. I have never been, other than flying over, and I live fairly close! I’m sure you know that Texas in the summer can be sweltering, similar to where I live in Mississippi. Maybe you will get there before it’s too hot. Oh, and eat some BBQ..Texans are known for there delicious BBQ .

        1. Wow – that sounds like so much fun!!
I am looking forward to Texas – and I will def. try the bbq!!! Going to be a shock to hit Texas summer straight from our (almost) winter!

  2. There are some items I buy in the men’s section – Carhart coat for winter at home, work gloves for blackberries, etc., boots when I can find them small enough, and shirts sometimes. They are usually made heavier and last longer. Sometimes women’s stuff doesn’t last.

  3. Lisa, that last photo os the lettuce you shot is lovely! What kind is it? Did u sow it from seed or put it in geouns as a start?6

    1. Thanks Pat – Its from seed I saved last season. I started them in the hothouse then popped them out in the garden a few weeks ago. I really need to start some more! We ate some leaves the other night and they tasted excellent!
