Fabulous Friday!

Small pickings… herbs, celery and eggs!

Hello! End of another week!!

I had quite the productive day.

There was a small calamity in the house as we ran out of plum jam (A staple at breakfast!) I took a container of frozen plums out to thaw so I could fix the situation. Happily I process (cook, de-pip & mooley (squish to pulp) ) the plums before freezing so I dont have a lot of extra work to do when I am ready to make something.

So six pounds of plum pulp became several jars of jam

We picked up our friend Rachel tonight at the airport… she took quite the liking to my banana/raspberry loaf, so as a good host, I made one up.

Sooooo gooooood!

Then I thought I might as well make a cake for the chickens, as I hadn’t done that for a while…

Will give the chooks a few slices tomorrow!

(Spoiled chickens much??)

On a roll… so I baked some bread too – have to do something with all that plum jam I guess

Somewhere in all that I premade a tomato/vegetable sauce mix so when Rachel got in, we just had to cook the pasta to complete dinner. Glad I did as her plane was a bit late. I think we were eating dinner at about 10pm, then chit chatted forever which is why I am now blogging at nearly 2am!

Of course there was some garden stuff to do – mostly watering today.

Celery going to seed! Useful!!

Ok – better get a wriggle on towards bed! Going to be hard to get up mildly early tomorrow!!

What’s happening on the weekend around the world?? I am hoping for some beach time!

Cheers!

A happy traveller through life! Right now living in NW Tasmania with a gorgeous Nurse-Husband, a fool of a Siamese Cat and several chickens. We love our fairly simple lifestyle of growing a lot of what we eat and enjoying the stunning surrounds of our little patch.

  1. Hi Lisa! I’m still so excited to see you blogging, I loved reading your posts on Mavis’s blog so it’s great to come to your Internet world as it were!

I’m in Indiana where it’s currently 73 F and going to be 40 F and a possibility of snow showers tomorrow! My sinuses weep!

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Emily! I am just having my new plum jam on toast and a coffee and its lovely to read how you are enjoying my posts! Awesome start to the day!
ooooo I am glad we are slowly warming up not cooling down! So very tired of rain and gloom this year! Snow!!! πŸ™‚ Actually I just looked outside and its pretty overcast!! Still, this is Tasmania and it will possibly change its mind ten times before I leave the house!
      Have a lovely day!

  2. I’m working this weekend…not difficult but sure is time consuming!
Our weather is cooler and my thoughts have turned to baking. I have a crock of sourdough in the fridge….bread sounds pretty good

    1. Working!! πŸ™‚ Hope you enjoy it anyway!! I enjoy baking when the weather is cooler – but because we have solar power its more economical to cook when the sun is blazing away!
AND it IS blazing today! Its totally gorgeous out there today!
We are about to run out into it and attend the local markets then find a beach (or three!)
      (I have never tried sourdough…) πŸ™‚
