Cooking

Hi there!
Quite a day on my feet!
Went to the bank this morning and started the process of organising some available funds from our home loan so we can get those trees removed!
Then came home to finish off the relish.
While that was cooking I spent time cutting up those three huge beetroots!
They totally filled my big pot so I had to wait until the relish was done so I could use the bigger pot to cook them in

As you can see above, I also managed to get the basket of picked thyme into the netting, so now its hanging in the slate room smelling rather nice!
I finished off the photos from the mountain climb, but will wait until tomorrow to write up a post. It somehow got late!!
But all dishes (finally) are done, food put away and bread is baking.
I am deciding what to do with all the current tomatoes – I think I will take a break from the kitchen and see if my friend wants to buy a few kilos… will only be a few days before I will be stocked up again πŸ™‚
A day off tomorrow to laze about??
We shall see πŸ™‚
Cheers!

  1. Your relish looks Devine!!! Also dried herbs. WOW. what accomplishments
You have preformed!! I’m sure your maters will sell easily just wish I could purchase. Our tomatoes stink right now. I’m sure all green house. How wonderful to have vine ripe. As old Lewis Grizzard said NO ONE COULD THINK UNPLEASANT THOUGHTS WHILE EATING VINE RIPE TOMATO SANDWICH!!!
    love from Georgia

    1. Hello!! πŸ™‚ I’ve done nothing productive at all today. My brain is thinking of things to do but I am stuck here with Pip curled on my lap, so who am I to argue?? haha
ooooo – now I am thinking of a tomato sandwich!! One of my favourite things in tomato season!!
I agree the shop bought tomatoes are pretty bad. What happened to flavour? How do they get that so wrong?? I love popping a cherry tomato in my mouth and getting that explosion of taste!! I am sure you will be enjoying fresh tomatoes before too long!! Have a lovely day!

    1. You’ve given me an idea for dinner!! I was just going to do a soup and salad, but Jeff loves tuna and cherry tomatoes together so I might put that together – I think I even have a little celery lurking about in the hothouse!! πŸ™‚

  2. I enjoy reading about your gardens while mine are asleep for winter. I live NW Washington State and we are eagerly awaiting spring!

What are you going to do with all the cooked beets?
