Brisk Afternoon Walk

Hello! Good news!! Clearly the yogurt is starting to work!!! Egg production DOUBLED since yesterday.
I still feel we have a long way to go…

Anyway, I did pretty much nothing with the rather nice sunny day and now I am feeling somewhat guilty about it.

I did manage to drag Jeff out later this afternoon for a walk by the river to its entrance by the sea… was lovely out in the fresh air

The late afternoon sun was nice, but it was still pretty chilly!

I am enjoying reflections lately

We started out by the car park where we put the kayaks in to paddle then walked towards the pier at Wynyard

So calm out there! The water was like a mill pond!

Even the waves hardly broke the surface!

We like checking out the old homes and landmarks about Wynyard when we walk about. This fabulous front ‘fence’ was actually made of the ships ballast from many years ago.

At the end of our stroll, the sky had darkened and a hint of a sunset coloured the sky

Reflections again – the smudges on the water surface is actually oil from the trees!

Back home to the fire and dinner… we actually have done some hasty rearranging tonight so we can camp in our lounge room in front of the fire. It really is icy out there and the best place in the house is right here –

Pip is thrilled. He is already fast asleep in my sleeping bag!!

Oh – and the BEST thing about today??
My friend Marsha turned up and gave me chicken socks!

Life is fabulous!
Cheers!

A happy traveller through life! Right now living in NW Tasmania with a gorgeous Nurse-Husband, a fool of a Siamese Cat and several chickens. We love our fairly simple lifestyle of growing a lot of what we eat and enjoying the stunning surrounds of our little patch.

  1. I am going to try feeding my chicks some yogurt. A couple have quit laying. How much of it did you feed them? LOVE those socks. And love your gorgeous photos as always! Thanks for sharing!

    1. lol – don’t get too excited about the yogurt yet! If I start getting more than 4 a day in the near future I might be more convinced about it! Moutling can stop them laying for a while… or other things. Usually for us they were pretty steady until now. (Some would be on and some off the lay)(Not usually all at once for so long!!) But I got some greek yogurt and mixed about 4 big spoonfuls into their mash (quick oats or old cereal – whatever I have) I have given them this about 3-4 times (only once a day tho) Let me know if you try it if you see any difference or not!

  2. I LOVE the chicken socks. I love my friends who would think of giving me something like those socks. Those are the best kind of friends. They put a smile on your face every time you put on your socks. Living in middle Tennessee, it is hard for me to imagine the weather cold this time of year.

    1. Yup! Those socks would cheer anyone up!! šŸ˜€
oooo it was nice having that bit of summer in Texas at the beginning of our winter! Last night in front of the fire was so cosy!! šŸ™‚

  3. Lisa, How far is it to the ocean, when you walk along the river to the mouth?
Love your socks!! You wear them well!!

    1. From where we started it took about 15/20 minutes to get to the mouth, so not too far. We actually drive over the same river further up the highway on the way home that we used to walk from – which would take about an hour – but the track hasn’t been fixed up since it washed away a year ago in those floods!
And thanks! Love my new socks!!
